Case Report - Clostridia Difficile
I wanted to share a story, not from a client, but from a friends neighbor, who had to undergo aggressive surgery for colon cancer, sadly. She is in remission and doing great, thank goodness. She was raised in Colorado, in a sub-division- that is famously constructed, shall we say, virtually on top of Rocky Flats - an old super fund site. Any, i digress. She ended up contracting a Clostridia Difficile infection while in the hospital, and undergoing Chemo treatment. She tried various interventions, including the well known anti biotic, Dificid (fidaxomicin), but it kept coming back. She eventually tried, VOWST, and her report was - “Life Changing”, the C-Diff infection was gone, just like that. For those of you who have struggled with this nasty, tough to get rid of pathogenic bacteria - i just wanted to share this. This person also shared, that although VOWST was covered by insurance, the cost, if not covered, was somewhere near $22K. Hopefully, if their solution continues to help people, the treatment and distribution can scale and lower the cost, and potentially also make it available to be covered for folks more broadly.
